Clean Energy Development Strategy: Steps Toward a Sustainable Future
September 18, 2025

Environmental damage and climate change are becoming increasingly evident before our eyes. Phenomena such as rising global temperatures, floods, and deforestation are clear indicators of the negative impacts of improper energy utilization. Energy has now become the center of global attention, with the potential to transform every aspect of life if used wisely.

The use of clean energy is crucial in addressing these environmental challenges. The current focus is accelerating the transformation toward environmentally friendly energy. Indonesia, as part of its global commitment through the Paris Agreement, is striving to increase the proportion of renewable energy in its energy mix. The ambitious target of reducing emissions by up to 29% through its own efforts and 41% with international support by 2030 highlights the essential role of renewable energy in national development.

Steps Toward Clean Energy

1.Campaign & Socialization
The government, together with all stakeholders, must intensify campaigns and socialization efforts on clean energy to all communities, both urban and rural. Enhancing awareness about clean energy sources and environmental sustainability can shift mindsets and foster greater concern.

2.Research & Feasibility Study
This stage aims to sharpen skills and apply knowledge in real-world contexts. The government and stakeholders should encourage broader research so that contributions to achieving net-zero emissions become more tangible.

3.Prototyping & Testing
Research outcomes must be realized into small-scale products that can be tested. This will help develop the green economy at the community level. For example, a small-scale wave power generator prototype that has been successfully tested for use.

4. Scale Up and Commercialization
The final step is scaling up and commercialization. Renewable energy must reach 23% of the national energy mix by 2025. Full support from the government and the industrial sector is vital in achieving this goal.
