It is important to accelerate the increase in the electrification ratio to accelerate rural development efforts in underdeveloped areas. It also helps support a government with plans to build village power plants. In this way, remote areas in remote parts of Indonesia can get electricity by utilizing existing and affordable generators.

In addition, the areas in the MCIP area of ​​the PT Energia Prima Nusantara (EPN) work unit area are a top priority for accelerating electrification. There are still many areas that cannot enjoy electricity all the time, because they still use generators. Therefore PT EPN is working with related parties to help develop areas with limited electricity supply, with the current coverage in the PT EPN work unit area. This aims to improve the community’s economy by providing efficient and round-the-clock electrical energy.

Based on the regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 38 of 2016 concerning Acceleration of Electrification in Undeveloped, Remote, Border and Populated Small Islands Villages through the Implementation of Small Scale Electricity Provision Enterprises is to encourage the acceleration of efforts to illuminate villages that do not yet enjoy electricity. Through the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, the government invites regional-owned enterprises, private companies, and cooperatives to manage a business area, which currently has not been reached by holders of other business areas

In line with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources above, on December 2, 2022, PT EPN continued its support for developing electrification in work unit areas, to be precise in the Sakakarangan area, Barunang Village, RT 004, Kapuas district, Central Kalimantan Province.

The Sakakarangan area is the Mining Cluster Improvement Program (MCIP) area or the PT EPN work unit area with the closest coverage area to the ABB mining (Ring-1) and the 36 kV Electric Steam Power Plant PAMA-1 network. This makes the Sakakarangan area a priority in electrifying the community within the EPN work unit area.

Laying the first stone for the electrification program in the Sakakarangan area also emphasized that PT EPN supports the accelerated program instructed by the government.

The accelerated electrification program carried out by PT EPN hopefully can help support the government’s program to maximize the supply of electric power in areas that are still lacking or even have not had electricity at all, to accelerate development in these village areas.
